Who doesn't LOVE chocolate chip cookies? They're certainly a favorite here in our house. When we wanted to make our own chocolate chip cookie recipe, we had two criteria. They had to be chewy and also easy to make.
Making The Best Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe

Chocolate chip cookies are a classic. They are great for all occasions (or no occasion at all). To get the perfect chocolate chip cookie, it needs to be a blend of chewy middle, slightly crisp edges and be packed FULL of melted delicious chocolate chips.
If you're looking for an easy to make recipe that you can throw together quickly (no chill time required here!), then look no further. You don't need to make a complicated recipe to get the perfect cookie.

Without further ado, let's get baking!

Step One
After preheating your oven to 350 degrees, the first thing you need to do is to cream your butter and sugar together. This stand mixer is what we use but can be a bit pricey.
We also use this one when we don't feel like lugging the larger mixer out of the cabinet. It's compact, lightweight, more reasonably priced, and has lasted a really long time.
Pop your butter and sugar into your bowl and then beat on them on high until they are all mixed with no butter lumps left.
Pro tip: you want your butter to be soft. Otherwise it's not going to mix easily with your sugar. You can leave it sitting out for a bit before making these. Or, if you're like me and are impatient, you can stick it in the microwave for just a few seconds (you do NOT want it to actually start melting).
Step Two
Next up, add in your other two wet ingredients: eggs and vanilla. You'll pop them into the bowl with the butter and sugar mixture and mix those in.
You'll want to do that on more of a medium speed, it only takes a minute or so. You just want them thoroughly mixed.
Step Three
Now you want to mix together your dry ingredients in a separate mixing bowl. Pop in your measured amounts of flour, baking soda and salt and just stir them together.
Step Four
Time to get your cookie dough all together. Slowly mix your dry ingredients into your wet ingredients.
You can do this step either with your stand mixer (make sure it's on low) or by hand. You want all your ingredients to be thoroughly mixed. However, you don't want to over mix your dough.
Before, moving on, dump in your chocolate chips. Fold them into the cookie dough using a spatula and your hand. The hand mixer would be overkill for this step.
Step Five
Take your baking pan (non stick or coat with a thin layer of butter or spray) and start putting your cookie dough on it. Using a tablespoon and getting heaping scoops (about 1.5 tbs worth) works well.
The best cookies I've ever had were baked on a pizza stone. If you have one or are able to get one, we totally recommend using it.

Try to make sure that your scoops of dough are stuck together well (you can roll it into balls using your hands if you wish). Also, make sure that they are well spaced or your cookies will all run together when cooking.
Step Six
Pop your cookies into the oven and bake for 8-12 minutes. Your oven, altitude etc can affect baking times so just keep an eye on them. 12 minutes seems to be perfect in the oven here.
As long as the cookies have a smidge of browning started on the edges they should be done. You can pull them out, let them cool and then enjoy!
